I am a queer, mixed-race artist and activist born and raised in San Francisco and based in New York City. Currently, I am set to graduate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in May 2019 with a BFA in Drama and a minor in Film Production. My artistic practice and body of work is largely interdisciplinary, including: performance, directing, playwriting, screenwriting, and poetry. I use my artistic work in conjunction with my dedication to social justice. In my work, I emphasize the queerness of my identity because it is the intersection between the many crossroads that make up myself. This liminality, to me, shows an inherent queerness to identity itself, since growing up both queer and mixed-race, I was always in between the borders of identity. This “failure” to fit is largely inspirational to my work which seeks to explore decolonization and healing through the lens of queerness and South/South-East Asian diaspora.
